Social Proof & Field Notes
"My child finally got to experience the light trapping he had always dreamed of, thanks to Hari. We met in the early afternoon, visited a butterfly park, and later went insect collecting and light trapping at night. Along the way, Hari surprised us with many memorable moments — a gift of insect specimens, seeing monkeys up close, and enjoying snack time by a beautiful caldera lake. Even though it was a long day, my child loved every moment and is still talking about the Bali insect adventure after we returned home. Hari and his crew were incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and well-prepared. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for something truly unique and special during their trip to Bali."
"We are a South Korean family of three (a 10-year-old boy and his parents). Our son is deeply passionate about insects and wildlife, so we spend most of our time on ecological explorations. During the cold Korean winters when insects disappear, we usually travel to Southeast Asia to continue our search for wildlife. Choosing Bali for this trip was a truly brilliant decision. Thanks to Hari, we visited hidden spots known only to locals and encountered an incredible variety of species. We saw countless Gideon Rhinoceros Beetles and Asian Forest Scorpions, along with numerous species of Stick Insects we had never seen before. We even spotted Atlas Moths (including the caterpillars!), Moss Mantises, Gekkos, and various lizards. Our itinerary included one light-trapping session and one night exploration. While waiting for the insects to gather at the light trap, we explored the surrounding area. Hari knew exactly where everything was hiding, so there was never a dull moment—we were constantly discovering something new. What impressed us most was Hari’s professional expertise and their scholarly approach to studying insects. It was a wonderful opportunity for our son to see firsthand what it means to be a true ecologist. This is an experience you simply cannot have in Korea. I highly recommend this to any family with children interested in insects and biology!"
"During this tour, I was able to observe many species that are usually difficult to see, including stag beetles and rhinoceros beetles such as Odontolabis and Xylotrupes, as well as some rare stick insects. Hari was also very kind. I still vividly remember seeing the giant moth, the Atlas moth, at the butterfly park. It was an unforgettable experience."
"Our family joined Hari for two night insect-collecting trips, and it gave our child an experience he will never forget. Although Bali is rich in natural environments, it is actually not easy to find the kinds of insects children hope to see within the usual tourist areas. Without the guidance of an expert, it would be almost impossible to explore deep into nature at night and conduct this kind of adventure safely. In that sense, Hari and his team are highly professional. They have the right knowledge, proper equipment, and they make this unique experience possible at a very reasonable cost. If we visit Bali again, we will definitely join Hari for more experiences."
